It has been known for ages that habitual procrastination can determine successes or failures. Speaking of punctuality, "How sweet it is." There are those valid reasons to look before we leap. As a large group of steel guitar enthusiasts, it would be interesting to read how others perceive a pressing issue. |

Bill, could you give us an example of how "habitual procrastination" can determine success? |

Procrastination and fear can prevent whomever from fulfilling opportunities. Still, there are those moments of procrastination that prevent an individual from facing some dangerous situation. One minute delays have prevented countless drivers from becoming involved in fatal crashes. |

I know I used to be an amateur crastinator, and with practice I got better at it... |

The fear of success has thwarted, many a good mans ambitions, letting his intentions fall into procrastination.

My interpretation of moments of procrastinating taken from personal experiences, are things that can create lifelong regrets. Situations where a delayed moment of wavering between two courses of action, could allow an opportunity of a lifetime, to slip away.

Well I remember thinking that I was wrong once. But later found out that I was right. Had I not procrastinated that would never have happened. |

I actually understand what Bill is saying , quite well..
How do we deal with pressing issues, musically..the challenge is how I read this... How do we we deal with it..
Procrastination can certainly be the big culprit...whether it be studying, practicing or going out PRO active to get a gig... or book the band...
I'm gonna practice that tomorrow
I'm gonna study that scale tomorrow
next week I'll go out and get a gig
I wish I could report that I am Johnny on the spot, but I'm not...when I am I can say that the rewards flow, when I sit back they don't flow...I can be as lazy as the next guy, maybe tired is the word because I still work full time and my first birthday was a whole lot of years ago !
I'll write more next week . _________________ Emmons L-II , Fender Telecasters, B-Benders , Eastman Mandolin ,

Well put Tony. Now I was thinking about practicing, but maybe I'll wait until later. |

Albert Einstein, while working on a physics problem, suggested that the group of scientists go have a beer and a brat rather than continue working to solve the problem. It took them until the next day to come to the conclusion of their work. |

Some steel guitarists have openly stated that there have been slack and undetermined periods of practice sessions due mainly to procrastination. The greats of pedal steel, apparently keep the urge to take a break from serious practice sessions under control, by adhering to absolute dedication to the instrument.

All my life I've had a list in my head of intended projects; "Projects for When I Have Time". Eventually old projects no longer of interest drop off the bottom of the list and more get added in to take their place. Occasionally one will be realised, but a lot of the time a project is left 95% done, and then it goes onto another list; "Unfinished Projects to be Finished at Some Stage."
I'll get round to all of them in the fullness of time, or if the Good Lord's willing and the creeks don't rise. |

if we always waited untill we thought we were ready, would only the foolish jump? ...is it the ride we are afraid of or the sudden stop if we as musicians fail to achieve our goal?...many of us need to stop running away from our future and instead..run towards it _________________ Twang to the bone! |
