We just got back from Rick Troyers 2006 celebration show at New Philly ,and it was a great success .The O.S.G.A. had a great table and we signed up some new members and did some renewals . Thank you Rick and everyone that help make the show as great as it was . I must say that David Decker sounded great playing his Performance Steel . The tone was wonderful and David did a great job playing . I got to meet Mr. Buck Reid and he was a great guy to talk to and he did great a job playing . It was a real treat to hear Buck Reid ,John Hughey and Mike Sigler play in the ''Super Jam ''. The other featured players did great also . Sonny Curtis was a lot of fun . It was good to see Herby and his wife and to get to talk with them , we will keep Herby in our prayers . Joe Sapp was a fun guy also and he introduced me to some of the guys that i have talked to on the Steel Guitar chat room . We are already making plans for the next show . Again thanks Rick for a great steel show . Best regards , Gary .

Gary:
Terry and I had a fantastic time, and so nice to see old frineds and make some new ones as well. NONE of this could have been possible without Rick and the entire Staff. Wow,,what a superb Job each and every one of them did. the almost endless flow of equipment I know Dave Decker, and Gary Miller will sleep quite well tonight. LOL. By the turnout each day was a full house, and always good to see. yall stay safe, take care, and God Bless>

Gary, thanks for the comments! As for the
Performance Steel,it is a fine guitar, I couldn't happier with any other. Plays great, stays in tune, and looks great, that adds up to all I need in a Pedal Steel. Again Gary Thanks.

Well said David . I wish we had more time to talk at the show but you were a busy guy to say the least . It's great to have good workers to help do a show like this ,you and the gang are to be complimented ,so there it is said it ( just kidding ). Rick is blessed to have friends that will take the time from their busy schedule to help him do this kind of thing . Again thanks all for a great show done in a timely fashion . God bless you all . Where to begin ? The trucks are all unloaded and the inventory put back in place . The steels are all back on the floor and cases put away . One more long day and I should feel exhausted . And though I am tired , I can't get all the wonderful events of the weekend out of my mind .Scene after scene run through my mind again . Far too many to mention and to recall one without the rest would be an injustice .Simply put , It was the best show we have ever had in terms of everything running smoothly , attendance , Atmosphere etc. . In my opinion , even the artists and staff band seem to out do themselves this year . A great big THANKYOU to all who had a part in the success of the show . If you were a part of the staff or you bought a ticket , or you were one of the artists who performed . Or maybe you were a vender and displayed your product . No matter what part of the show you were ,Thanks ! You helped to make it the best one ever . Rick

You are so right Gary . I am truly fortunate and blest to have so many wonderful friends . It boggles my mind to think of the countless hours spent and personal life sacrificed just to help me . So many great people doing whatever is asked of them without a second thought or hint that they would refuse . Please know that as I count my blessings each day that everyone of them is noted . Thanks to you and the O.S.G.A. as well Gary for your support of the show . Glad you could make it and sign up some new members . Looking fwd. to your next show as well .God bless..

Hi Rick, just want to add my congratulations on a job well done! I truly had a great time thanks to you and your wonderful staff. Everyone there worked so hard to make it a pleasurable experience for the artist's and audience members...and did it with a smile. Also, special thanks to Dave Decker for sponsoring me this year,it was great to visit with you and your wife Lenora and I hope it's not so long between visits next time. Oh,and I'll keep an eye out for those picks. I suppose I should thank Scotty for not cutting my strings off! (hehe) I enjoyed talking with Herby Wallace who appears to be doing fine and I know we all wish him a speedy recovery so he can get back to playing real soon. Thank you Gary Preston for your kind remarks,it was a pleasure meeting and talking with you as well. Thanks to the staff musicians who played with me,to John Hughey and Mike Sigler for a fun jam and the list goes on. Thanks again Rick and all who were involved and I look forward to next time!

Rick – Thanks for letting me be a part of the festivities on Saturday. Its such a kick to back these awesome players. What’s really great about these shows is not only the great players but the friendships that get started. There are no big heads, just a bunch of people getting together to have some fun. I wish I could have played Sunday but you know the story. I look forward to playing bass at your next show in 2 years. Great show, thanks again.

WOW!!! Thanks for a great show.
My son and I came down Sunday. I thought this would be a good way to introduce him to the PSG. He was blown away!! He asked me on the way home if we could do all three days in 2008. So that's the plan. We had a great time!!
Thanks to everyone again!

I just want to echo all the great things that have been said about the show. Great staff , great players, but without the people who come to support the event, it wouldn't be as great as it was. Like you said Alan, to play behind the best is such a treat. Buck, if I ever get to play bass for you again, I promise I'll learn Eastern Swing, and Waiting Room. You are not only a great player, but a super person as well. Thanks for a great weekend. You know Herby gotta love it to drive all the way from Tenn. to Ohio on $3.00 a gallon gasoline just to hang out and not play. We love ya man. And John Hughey, what can I say. He's still my hero. I started to tear up when we played Look At Us. What a treat that was. Not enough time or space to say all the things about the show I'd like to so we'll leave it at that.
I hope we can have as much success next year here in Washington at the Tri State Steel Show again. Rick, we love ya brother. Hope we can continue to help your show be such a great event for everyone. I'm proud to be a part of it.

I just want to say the Rick and his crew are among the best in the industry! In fact, everyone seemed to go out of their way to make sure that myself, Mary and DeWitt, Jr. were taken care of and we were treated like family. A wonderful show to play and I'm always greatful and surprised that my playing on the lap steel is accepted and appreciated by everyone. My highlights were when "Donny" and "JW" can up and sang a couple of tunes. And when Jerry Brightman joined me on stage for "Mansion On The Hill" and "I Can't Help It If I'm Still In Love With You." I usually play I Can't Help It as a guest on Herby Wallace set but he wasn't playing this year due to a mild stroke. I did get to record it with him on his Steel & Ivory CD and I dedicated our the tune to Herby. I'm looking forward to the show in 2008. Scotty

Rick, thank you for yet another great show. I believe it was the most memorable one for me as I was able to enjoy the most conversation I've ever had with my personal hero of the steel guitar. But, thanks most of all for inviting me to participate.

I can't add much more to what has already been said about the show. We all had a great time, got to visit with lots of folks, and really enjoyed Rick's ususal hospitality.

I really enjoyed getting to spend time with Buck Reid and really enjoyed his music, along with all the great players. Thanks to everyone who came and supported this great show in our state. Also, the Curtis Brothers wanted me to thank everyone for inviting them back this year.

Buck-What a talent ! It was so cool to see so many of the staff and other players stop and listen to your set . As if suddenly something new and different was happening . Your playing was super and your personality won the friendship of all of us . Thanks for being part of a successful show .
Allan-I'm the one who should be thanking you ! Great job on bass Saturday . Sorry we didn't hook up right a way . But things happen for a reason and I'm so glad you could be part of the show . Mark your calendar now for 2008 .
Mike Meese - Again it's I who should be thanking you not the other way around . Your set was awesome ! So professional and and fun to watch . Your smile is infectious . Everyone says it looks like you really enjoy what you're doing . And it shows in your playing .From the very first show you and your wife Tracy have been there to help in any way needed . Love you guys ! Simply wouldn't want to do it with out you .
Jim- How are your fingers ? This might be a way for me to slow you down on the steel . Make you play bass for 6 hrs.. I know we joked around alot but man thanks for all your help . You and Patty are dear friends and I value that and can't thank you enough for all the help . Count me in to help at your show next year . I'm sure you'll have another great one .
Mike Sigler -I wish I could type as fast as you can pick ! I'd be done and out of here an hr. ago . Your set was as always a crowd favorite . Your amazing talent is only surppassed by your wonderful personality . How nice of you to share in the "jam" on Friday night with Rudy Osborne . Not only was it great pickin' but it speaks well of the kind of guy you are .The crowd loved it and I think it helped Rudy to get a good feel of what this show is all about . Thanks man ! I can't wait 'til I get to come down to the resteraunt where you'
re pickin' and get to hear a whole night of your great playing (and singing).
Scotty -Standing O man ! What do you mean you're surprised people like your style of playing ? They(we) love it . There is probbably no one left playing that emmulates the late great Jerry Byrd better than you . It's always an honor to have you on the show . I'm glad you feel treated as family cause that's the way we want you to feel . Thanks for making the trip and hope Jr. didn't have to make any emergency stops on the way home . Hope to see you all in St. Louis .
Tommy- You da man . Played Friday night . Drove to the show . Worked the whole show without stop . What can I say ? Tell the band not to book anything that weekend in '08 . We need you to work Friday as well (ha ha ).Thanks so much man . I did miss hearing you pick though .We'll have to fix that situation .
Jerry- Never sounded better ! Your tone both days was the best I ever heard you have . You must have been woodshedding or that new Performance steel really delivered . I'm sure it had alot to do with both .Great sets both days . I really enjoyed the set with the Curtis Brothers . So polished . And the Buck Owens medley....Wow ! A fitting tribute to a legend . Please tell the guys thanks for me . How wonderful of them to take time out of there busy schedule to come and play for the show . Rick

I came down for the Sunday show, and it was reaally a great show.

I particularly liked how well organized and friendly everything (and everbody) was. (and the non smoking thing was really nice too...usually after a steel show my clothes stink worse than my playing...and that's saying something!)

I was flabbergasted when Buck Reid started off his set with Scrapple from the Apple!Great playing, great material.

Sonny Curtis was tremendous, and Rudy Osborn (I'm sure I'm spelling that wrong...) was also a stand out. Heck, there wasn't a bad set in the bunch!

Looking forward to 2008!

Hi Rudy.Glad you had a good time and enjoyed the show . I had dozens of comments about you and your playing . All of them good . People really seemed to love your arrangement of "Ode to Billy Jo " .Myself included . You are exactly why the instrument will not die . your passion for playing is contagious and makes all those who hear you want to play more . Thanks for helping make the show a success.
Hey Chic. Great sets as always .So good of you to include the vocalists in your sets. It make the audience sit up and take notice to see what you're going to have for them next . Glad we could "feature" you this year . You sure deserve it . Thanks also for the contribution to the "history room " . The old ZB and Sho~Bud amp were a real prize for people to see . Thanks for your contrbution to this show and all your support throughout the years to steel shows and jams everywhere . Rick

Another excellent show. Thanks to everyone especially the stage crew. They helped all players on and off the stage with very good speed and organization. Thanks Rick for allowing me to play on the Friday night jam.
I believe this was the best weekend yet. It was good to see Herby there supporting the show.
Thanks again for a good weekend!
