I just received the word that Ralph...has gone to be with our lord today,...Im sure more info will be coming soon from his family, and closest friends......Prayers from Dallas for the Mooney family...

That's very sad news! Ralph Mooney was one of my Steel guitar heroes, it hurts to see him go. May he rest in peace.

God bless and comfort Ralph's family and friends. I have certainly enjoyed his unique style of picking and playing every since i became interested in steel guitar about thirty years ago. As it was said in a previous post thank God for Mr Moon.

A sad, sad day. One of the very greatest ever. Rest in peace Moon. If there were a Mount Rushmore for steel guitar players, Ralph would be up there.
And to think he also wrote one of the greatest country songs in history, "Crazy Arms," and it was Ray Price who had the first hit with it back in the mid-50's. This is so cool - Marty Stuart asked Ralph to play an instrumental version of Crazy Arms on his new album which came out last September. I'm listening to it now. Sweet.
One of my true heroes in music. He will never be forgotten by those that love the steel guitar, and he can never be replaced.

I will never forget Jeff Newman and Lloyd Green doing a tribute to Ralph in St. Louis years ago, with Ralph on stage. Man the stories that guy could tell about life in the music business in the 50's and 60's. I laughed until I cried. Now he and Jeff are both gone. RIP Ralph.

| This is a post I was dreading discovering, but I've known for a while that the day was sure to come. Ralph was the last person I saw before leaving the Dallas show last year. He was standing outside swapping tales with some other guys after his set. What a pleasure to get to visit with him that night. Ralph Mooney will always be missed. My prayers go out for his family's comfort. |

| I heard Waylon do T for Texas on some live album and Moon was wearing it out and I couldn't turn the light off in the shop until the end of that tune. I think I've worked more on his licks and style than any other player. He will be missed here and at my house for sure! God rest his soul! |

| Oh man, I am really very saddened to hear this. Ralph Mooney is the reason I started playing pedal steel. I loved his playing my whole life without ever knowing who he was. My condolences to friends and family. |

What becomes and legend most. Ongoing eloquent tributes for his work and personal style through decades in the business. R.M. gets them all and from the best in the business too.
RIP Mr Mooney, you left a mark on the instrument and several eras of music.
No doubt the Mount Rushmore tribute is built in the clouds above.
