Im sure im gonna open up a can of worms but as i am just learning to play pedal steel...i have to ask...HOW DO YOU READ A TAB?

Hi Ron
don't know if it's for lap steel or pedal steel
tabs are basically the strings of your instrument laid out highest string on up & lowest string on bottom
read left to right of course
the numbers on the string lines are the fret position
you' ll often have a vertical line indicating each bar ( the measure)
if it's psg some have the pedal or lever next to the number of the note - some will have it at the bottom of the tab

Do you understand how to read tab on a standard guitar?

If not, Google "how to read guitar tab" .

It's just a method of telling you what string and fret to play.


Once you understand how that works
(you don't have to play or even own a standard guitar)
