I want to thank Bruce Czarnetzki for a fabulous show this weekend and having me and my son Wade participate! I want to personally thank Tom Pickett who EmCee'd the show and helped coordinate the program----WHAT A SUPER JOB!!!
Also, I want to personally thank my friend Steve Reno and the Posse Band(Fred Stevens, Tom Holter, Joyce Spidle, and Steve Reno) who backed me and my son Wade, who played fiddle and shared the singing with Steve Reno. This was a very special moment for me, as Steve started me on guitar when I was a 13 year old teen, and this weekend was the first time I got to play music with Steve in 15 years!
My father also drove down from Park Rapids, Minnesota to see us. He had never heard us play before. It was a huge event for us in this regard, for him to see his son play steel and his grandson Wade play fiddle and sing, as well as us to be able to play for him! And beings I was raised near the Quad Cities area, I ran into many old friends. I also met some fantastic steelers from that part of the country---you know who you are! So this was a very special trip for us! We look forward to next year!
We played some of the good old 4/4 shuffles and some Bob Wills tunes, and had many happy faces on the dance floor!! And YES, there still is a huge interest in the good old tunes! |
