The Cajun Connection was one of the highlights of the convention. Murnel, Joe & Richard played the most beautiful rendition of the Last Waltz in TRIO STEEL HARMONY -- it was gorgeous and powerful! |

These guys were killer, my absolute favorite at the convention.....maybe all steel conventions. I especially loved the set they did in the Telonics room with just the three of them. Joe is a great steel player, but I must admit I loved to hear him on accordian playing with two of the top Cajun steel players ever. Murnel and Richard have two of the best thumbs in the business. |

Yes I was also in the Telonics room as Dan was.
It was super!!..They were GREAT on stage but it was more up close & personal in the Telonics room. Joe
played the Cajun accordions & sang. What a treat to hear these 3 men. Ron _________________ "Tone is in the hands. Unless your wife will let you buy a new amp. Then it's definitely in that amp."

David, thanks for the thread. I really enjoyed your Saturday evening set. Please email me your mailing address so I can send payment.
Bo, the serial numbers on the Ritts are 58, 59, & 60. I didn't realize my steel was a billboard until AFTER I carried it onstage. Maybe I should have charged for advertising space. Thanks to all for the wonderful comments. It was a blast playing this Dallas show. I love playing steel with these two guys on country & jazz, but I don't dare jump into the snakepit with them on Cajun steel. I'll come out drawing nubs. I would much rather play fiddle or accordion.
Dan, the feeling was mutual. The highlight of my show was hearing you and Tommy Dodd in the Telonics room and experiencing your copedent and awesome tone. You definitely need to make a trip down here to Louisiana!!
Paddy, back in January I went to Phoenix and practically had a spiritual experience playing the Telonics rig with the new cabinets. Had never heard anything that good coming from my hands. Unfortunately I'm afraid I sabotaged myself for the show. I have an older effects unit (which will remain nameless) that I substituted in my rack the day before going to Dallas. I had not hooked any of this up to the new speakers until getting onstage for the Friday night jam. Tone wasn't working for me plus I was having problems with distortion. At first I thought all of this was due to routing, but after going through everything, I feel it was gain structure issues with the effects unit. I am back home and plan to yank the effects unit out and replace it with one I know will work. I'm sure Ivan has delivered your Telonics goods by now. Hope to see you in Dallas this time next year!!

Hi Joe, I got a call from Ivan at 6-30am this morning to tell me all about the show, he is shipping my new toys to me today -- so I can't wait to get my hands on them .... what speakers is Dave running in his new cabinets ?
I had a email from Dave this morning at work too so I am really hyper about getting the new Pre :-}

Hey Joe!
You never cease to amaze me old friend!!!

Kurt,
The first steel solo in the clip above is Murnel Babineaux as well as the fiddle solo that follows. The second steel solo is Richard Comeaux. I played rhythm guitar on this song, and Cajun accordion (as well as rhythm guitar) on the CD's other Cajun tune titled, "The Last Waltz".
If you click on the forum link above, there are other song snippets located there. I played on Pamala as well as both steel harmonies on Summertime.
I miss talking to you. Shoot me an email so we can chat off the forum. Great hearing from you!!!

Paddy,
They are loading the cabs with Black Widows, although looking at other upcoming speaker releases as well. You may want to keep in touch with Dave on any developments.
