Hi all, one of our fellow forum member is having a birthday on March 16th. George Keoki Lake is going to be 83 years young.

The reason for mentioning this today is, we had a surprise birthday/City of Edmonton recognition day for George.

Friends, family and celebrities from far and wide came to celebrate a guy who's life is the steel guitar and Hawaiian music!

I'm very proud and honored to call him my friend and my pal.

Happy Birthday George!

Happy Birthday George. Birthdays are good ... the more you have of them, the longer you live. Laughing

PS, thanks for all you do for music and for your previous help.

A GREAT BIG happy birthday to you "Keoki".......

It's been great communicating with you throughout all of these many years..... I've enjoyed your educating me on the life style of folks living up north near the Artic Circle and how you care for you dog teams, sleds, snowshoes and igloo during the summer season.

I'm sure you're gonna enjoy many, many more. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Ah shucks guys, I'm not 83....I looked in the mirror only to see everything is reversed...I'm only 38 !

I was dupped into playing a gig with my daughter's combo on Sunday...she called frantically to say her bass player was sick and could I fill in ? Well, I fell for the gag, packed my bass and amp, arrived at the "gig" to see about 80 friends, relatives including some 22 of my 30 students in the room to give me a "surprise" party ... and it was certainly a surprise !

My students managed to keep it a secret since mid-January when our new semester commenced. Such wonderful folks who
Mary and I feel are "ohana" (Our extended family).

Mahalo Laurent, George Rout and everyone on this page. Much Aloha...Luv ya all. Oh, and don't believe a word of what Skip Montee says about our igloos, et al ! ha! Very Happy

KIA ORA MAC and LOUISA....

Thank you for your good wishes. Mary and I have such fond memories of your lovely home, Louisa's great cooking, and of course, my NZHSGA performances...I listen to the tapes often.

The recent Japanese earthquake, tsunami, and nuclear explosion has taken the 'limelight' away from all that happened in CHRISTCHURCH a few weeks ago. Mary and I hope none of your friends or relatives were affected.

Hi! again,
Our member Geoffrey Edmonds said his house stood up to the quake but everything inside was smashed, everything just flew from one side of the room to the other. The really sad news from there is that Mark Kahi, our greatest jazz guitarist has died. We are losing them, one by one. Kindest to you and Mary, Louisa and Mac.
