I will be playing pedal steel at several Cajun music gigs the next few weekends. This saturday "City of West Orange Festival" April 29, 11am - 1pm; Sunday April 30, St. Mary Annual Festival, Orange, Texas; Cajun Heritage Festival, Saturday May 6 12:30pm - 2:30pm Orange Texas River Walk. The May 6 gig features three bands one being Mr. Jackie Caillier and the Cajun Cousins with Mr. Danny Cormier on PSG. Our Band is "Jay Trahan and Cajun Jam". A good time will be had by all. If you are in the area at any of the times posted, please come join the festivities.

Go get 'em Doug !!!!! I'm glad you're out there "pedaling". For you that don't know Doug, he's one great musician and a super vocalist. Worked many a "gig" with him. And not to be left out, he has the sweetest wife in Orange County, Tx. As wives go, I think Doug and I married way over our heads. Watcha think Doug ???
Barbara sends her best to you and Jan.

Roy I have to agree that without the support from our better halves we would probably be sitting in a rocking chair being miserable right now. Hope to see you guys soon. I was sitting in at Tuffy's for Carrol Benoit the last time your show was scheduled in Kirbyville. Had a good opportunity to air out my vocal chords. Hope to catch up to you guys real soon for dinner.

Doug - I see you're at Orange. When I worked in Galveston, we used to go over to the Showboat at Orange after hours and have some great jam sessions; they had a cool group led by pianist Joe Nero.-----J----

The Showboat era ended when old highway 90 was replaced by IH 10. There were some great clubs and great bands "across the river" during that era. Everything has been replaced with slot machines and casinos. Live bands are few and far between unless you get hooked into cultural events that feature Cajun,Zydeco, or "Texas Culture" music. Most of the casinos import touring acts as the entertainment. The best areas now in my opinion for good fun music are Lafayette, LA. and the Texas Hill Country.

The touring groups are popular here: We live c. 22min from the Tunica Casinos -- all 10. They have a lot of country---Geo Jones, Marina McBride, etc. Tony Bennett next month. We've spent several weekends down there and just about any time of night/day, you can look out your window and the parking lots are full. ----j----

Doug - just got your run-down on Galveston happenings. It will be most beneficial; we're staying on Seawall Blvd. so we'll be right in the thick of things (I used to live on Ave. P1/2 right off the beach). We will be looking forward to the Balinese Room and the Flagstaff Lounge--great seafood! Thanks, HJ
