Steve Wariner introduces his new project, Guitar Labortaory, on this video, He also states he will be Playing pedal steel and lap steel. If he can play steel half as good as he plays guitar it should be good. Anyone ever hear Steve Wariner play steel?

He can play anything he touches, and yes he can play steel. He wrote and sang a song named "Atlanta My Greatest Loss" when he worked for Bob Luman and I believe he played lead, bass and steel on the session. His brother (I don't remember which one) played drums.

I've never heard Steve play steel, however I did hear that he plays an Emmons. He's also been a bass player-he started out playin' bass for Dottie West.

Hey Ben,

It was brother Terry who played drums for Luman, and then for Steve for awhile.

I think back in the days Chet Atkins took him under his wings,I saw him several times live with Allyn Love and Bucky Baxter on pedal steel.
I spoke with him for a while two years ago and he is such a warm and friendly person...can't wait to hear him play the steel..

Thanks Jim, I didn't remember if it was Terry or David. The whole family is extremely talented whether it's music, art, or magic and they're all good people. Steve's son, Travis, is following in his Dad's footsteps.
Olaf; Allyn was with Steve the last time I saw him but that was a few years ago.

That's right Ben,it was years ago for me too,two years ago Steve didn't bring his own band.
The Dutch band that backed him up had a dobro player.
I remember his brother Terry solo singing with Steve,Merle Haggard's" Ramblin'fever".

You can go to the itune store and review the project. I don't hear much Pedal steel on the previews. But the lap steel I hear is very good.
