I have never changed strings on this beauty yet. It's about time.
I bought a set of E9/B6 from Bob a while back, which I now believe are the wrong ones. My bad...

Thanx,
rd

Ron,
I use the George-L Nashville E9th 10 stg set and add on a 45 & 54 for the 11th & 12th string. I also use a 12 on the 3rd string.

Here is what I have found works best for me. Starting with the top string : .013, .015, .011, .014, .017, .020, .026w, .030w, .036w, .042w, .054w , .070w . I like George l's and/or Cobra coil. I have tried the .054 or .056 on the 12th string but like the .070 much better. (Just my preference)

Thanx, Y'all.

So, Theil...
From what you posted, it looks like the E9/B6 set I have is almost there.
Aside from the .12 that I have for the top, & the .68 I have for the bottom, all the other strings are the same as yours.

Guess I'll go ahead & give these a try.

Cool

.013 .015 .011 .014 .017 .020p .026w .030 .034 .036 .042 .054 (or something close to that).

You don't want .068 for the bottom - that's for U-12 low B not Extended E9th low E.

Okay. You probably only need a .034 though, for the 9th string. Everything else is pretty much the same. U-12 doesn't have a middle D. Ext E9th doesn't have the low B.

I like this ext E9, although I don't use the bottom 2 strings much, yet. But, it's nice to have them there. Fun gettin' those bottom notes. Smile

Bob, I got this from Scott Appleton.
I should probably find out what he has on it, cuz they feel real good.

Following the book and using the proper maintainence, oiling them 2-3 times a week guarantees almost a lifetime of wear..You can use the old ones to pull a car or a medium size ship..very universal..Highly recomended by owners of the old Smiley Steels.. Very Happy Wil Pickett uses them all the time..
