The origianl ZB changer utilized the end plate as a stop for the pedal travel which did the job quite well, but it was basically a single raise , single lower system. However there was a way to acheive a second raise (to a different pitch) on the same string. I have seen in pictures and also saw it on the ZB guitars for the 4th string (E) on the E9th tuning, to stop the pitch at F and F#. I know someone out there knows how this was hooked up, and I would like to be informed. I now have in my possession a Domland D10 with that same type changer on it and I want to try that same proceedure on it. The older Domland's were cable operated but this one is a later model that is rod operated. I will be photographing it and putting it on the forum in the near future. The forum is awesome. I enjoy all the knowledge and wisdom available there. Also the talent. |

Thiel,
Here you have it 'straight from the
source', as Zane laid it out . . .

Another option that I have seen from the factory in the later years is this. They used an extra pull rod instead of the welded half stop rod. One rod going directly to the changer from the singletree on the E to F lever. Then beside that rod is another in the hole in the singletree that goes past the changer, through the endplate with a tuner attached on the end. You still balance the pulls with the original rods to the changer. This will also work as well as the original design but the drawback is having one more extra rod to clutter things up at the changer.

Greg, I used your suggestion on the Edwards guitar and it worked out fine. The single tree already had an extra hole in it, so it just involved adding the additional rod. |
