Should be a good idea to substitute the stock Scorpion 12" speaker with another one, maybe a Blue Marvel, to get a better tone? Any suggestion?
Ciao
Matteo

I would stay with the stock Scorpion speaker. I have tried Blue Marvel and didn't like it. However, I was using it for regular guitar.

I mean for Pedal Steel. Something to give more basses and presence...

Matteo you might want to consider an Eminence Commonwealth Patriot.
4” Voice coil and they sound great; they will add a ton of weight to your SP130 though.
I know it did to my SP130….Which I would like to have again.
I also use the Weber NeoMag, they sound great as well but are a lot lighter.
They both have similar cone configurations like the JBL’s of old.

Just a thought.

I have the Eminence Red, White and Blues in my Allen Accomplice and tried it in me Carvin Nomad and it sounds great in both. You can listen to sound clips of all the Eminence speakers here. There was a better comparison site through the Allen site but I can't get it to come up.

The damage is done, the speaker is coming.. But I found the eminence speaker at a reasonable price. Also, the stock speaker seems to be a little damaged on the suspension...

I'm sure that the amp will have a big benefit from the new speaker. I read anywhere that the scorpion is really good for guitar, but not voiced for steel. I like it.. but why not improuve with a fantastic speaker?

Also, the eminence is 8 ohm... the scorpion is 4 ohm, so I think I'll let the power amp to work more, since until now I really cannot pump the volume of the clean channel to more than 2... Really too loud for me.

Sorry for my poor english, guys.
Better to cook a nice pizza for all you!
Matteo
Very Happy

I put a 12" Black Widow in a Special 130 a few years ago and it sounded great, but it made the amp very heavy.

I gigged with mine for the first time last night (original Scorpion speaker; Ken Fox N112 chip upgrade) and it sounded surprisingly great! But, yes, heavy.
