Anyone interested in one of these? I've only seen the pics, so I can't tell you anything about it except that it's at a thrift store in Reno, they're asking $400 (probably negotiable) and it's missing its bakelite back.

I had one of those, probably close to 30 years ago. I also had the matching blue amp.
I think my guitar was open on the backside, like this one. |

My personal opinion is that these steels are great.
I think they sound about the same as the early postwar Model B, just a lot less money. |

I've wondered if the monolithic construction of the Ace/Academy models had any sonic advantages over the separate body and neck construction of the B models.
A bit more sustain? |
