I received my copy yesterday and listened to every tune. There's a broad variety of music played; certainly not all country. Alan wins the prize for making me laugh.

I couldn't help but notice that 6 of the 50 players hail from Northern California. I'm not sure what that means, if anything. Is No Cal a secret hot bed of steel guitar madness?

My copy arrived this weekend and I'll agree with early posts by saying "There are 50 different songs on there and we all owe b0b a big thanks for all his efforts to put this together for us!"

Here you go, Larry:
SGF-Members-Showcase-MP3-CD

To date I've sent out 75 copies. A few more have gone out direct from Kunaki.com. The last of the artist's copies went out today. All of the pre-orders have shipped.

I highly recommend that you play it in "shuffle mode" so that hear tracks at the end as often as you hear the opening tracks. Some of them are really stuck in my head! I'm real happy with the way it turned out.

Any comments about the liner notes PDF file?

That's the best $10 I've ever spent, by a couple of orders of magnitude!! Great to attach a sound to a bunch of familiar names.

Liner notes like this make me long for the days of vinyl record jackets. Great to have all that detail available.

Great job, and thanks, bOb

I see it says MP3 CD . I was thinking that is two differant formats ? Do you need to specify CD or what's the deal. Yep. I'm an old duck and not "hep" on things like this. Thanx--- Smile

Bill,
From one old duck to an older (I think) duck ; Very Happy You do have things a bit mixed up.
The term "CD' is short for 'Compact Disk', and refers to the disk (CD) itself....the content can be Music, Movies, pictures....etc.
The standard industry "Format" for the music files written (or burned) to a CD is in the 'Wave File' format (.wav )...meaning Audio Sample Rate = 44.100kHz, Audio Sample size = 16 bit, and the Tracks are nowadays mostly in Stereo.
That said, if you have an older type CD player the disk from b0b won't play...... it will only play on your PC, or DVD machine.
The reason is that the "Format" used for the files (music) burnt to that CD is in the '.mp3' format, which differs considerably from the normal.

Newer players do 'read', or play, mp3 and wave files.

Of course, the mp3 files occupy a much smaller data space on the CD, so you can fit many more songs than normally on a CD.

Hope this helps a bit.

It's not a regular audio CD. It's a data CD containing 50 MP3 files and a PDF file of the liner notes.

You can copy all of the files to your computer to play them, and from there you can also put them on your iPod or other MP3 device.

Some CD and DVD players will play the MP3 files directly from the CD. These players usually have an "MP3" logo on them somewhere.

Mine arrived today. It plays fine in my car's CD player, but won't boot up on my computer.

Is anybody else unable to boot the CD on their computer?

Mike, it's not a "bootable" disc. You copy the data on the CD to a folder on your hard drive and then play the songs from the hard drive. Or you can access the music files on the disc and play them through your PC.

Put the CD in your Mac's drive, then open a new Finder window. It should show up in the left panel under "Devices".
