I'm buying this Fender T-8 that was cut down to 2 necks. What does the little red button do? Thanks.

I'm gonna guess and say it's probably a Speedy West effects button. BTW, is it the same guitar talked about in this thread? Click Here |

That's the self-destruct button, but only if you choose to accept this mission. |

Andy- It's not that one. It's been cut down to a D-8, and there's no evidence of any kind of changer anywhwere.
I was kind of hoping it was the legendary "anti-suck" button, but I guess an interrupter is almost as good... _________________ "it's not in bad taste, if it's funny." - john waters

It is most likely a kill switch, so you can do stutter effects. _________________ Links to streaming music, websites, YouTube: Links |

It may have been a "boo-wah" button. I had a red one on an old steel that was still working, and that is what it did.

I used to have a double 8 that someone added a doorbell button to. It functioned as a kill switch. I was thinking about adding the doorbell, but ended up selling the thing... _________________ A big THANKS to all my friends, here and everywhere ! |

Thanks for the replies.
Just one question: When you say "kill switch", who does it kill? The bass player? _________________ "it's not in bad taste, if it's funny." - john waters |

I have no idea what it is for. But, if it was me I would use it to turn on all the necks at once when I wanted to jump necks for a differen't chord voicing during a specific song I was playing. |

A "Kill" switch cuts the signal off, but only momentarily while being pressed. A "Do-Wah" switch cuts out the tone control when pressed allowing a quick tone change, from "doo" to "wah".... Some Gibson consoles have one of each switch, a red and a black one.
An "Anti-Suck" switch would be really cool, but most of us wouldn't know when to use it <G> _________________ A big THANKS to all my friends, here and everywhere ! |
