Mike Ihde has a lot of Hawaiian tunes that Bill Leavitt arranged. I have them all. Have tried a few and they sound Hawaiian with a few nicer chords here and there.
You will not be disappointed.
For $3.00 each get Harbour Lights and Sweet Leilani.
It will give you a taste,

Mike, as William said, you can play Hawaiian tunes but they will have some more interesting chord changes than typical. The Leavitt Tuning was invented for getting Jazz chords without slants. You lose a little of the Hawaiian sliding between chords because you're changing string groups a lot but you gain better voice leading, more types of chords and you no longer have to slant.

E-mail me and I'll send you a list of the tunes available. You can also check out my web site www.mikeihde.com and listen to cuts from my 2 CDs to see how the tuning sounds.

Wow Whoa! Bill, thanks so much for your work. I'm just starting to fiddle a bit with this tuning and you guys will be the benchmark I feel.
