Hello,
I'm fairly new to the forum but have been playing steel for quite a number of years. I stopped playing for some time, but have been re-inspired to play. I recently ordered a brand new Williams S-10 and so now I need to sell my old MSA. I need to get a few ideas as to repair costs from those of you who repair older guitars so I will know how much I need to discount this guitar from what would be fair value if it were perfect. Here's the situation: On my set up, the left knee going right lowers the 2nd a full tone and the 9th a half tone. The screw that hold the "fulcrum" mechanism ( I'm not sure what it's called) has been stripped out and is therefore loose and wobbly. The knee lever works, but is unstable. I think the screw hole would need to be retapped and a slightly larger screw added to make this work. Otherwise, the steel works and sounds fine, although it has been used hard and needs a general clean up( I played it on the club circuit for many years). Whoever would buy this would need to have this fixed to make it 100% and would need to change the copedent unless they are used to having the E changes on the right knee etc. I want to get a fair price, but want to make sure who buys it knows fully the situation and a fair discount to have it fixed. Also, over the years I had to rob a part or two, so I play it as a S-10 with 3 and 4 and haven't used the 11th or 12th strings for years. There are no pedals or rods for any changes for the lower 2 strings.
I can post or send pics if it would help.
Many Thanks!

Hey Jeff,
All this time I thought that was a 10 stringer. I just bought a used MSA S-12 Universal on the forum last month, and I'm still trying to get used to it. I haven't seen you since I left Wichita, how you been? I'm running a 24 track digital project studio here in Galva, and working as Electronics Tech for Viega in McPherson now. I play steel and guitar synth in a 3-piece with my wife (piano/bass) and cousin Chuck James (drums). Maybe we'll see you around.
