Hello, I have just receved the Supro below from the USA.( I am in the UK ) Looks great sounds great except the inner two strings 3 and 4 are a great deal quieter than 1 and 2 / 5 and 6. I have read on your great forum that some have dummy magnets. Mine has one real / one dummy.Any ideas ??? Would 2 magnets solve the problem ?? I also read someone on the forum that a membe may have these magnets for sale ?? Serial number is I 59827 Anyway.....Any help would be greatly appriciated.

Sounds more like you need to raise the poles on 3 & 4. These pups are very sensitive to pole height.

Use an eyeglass screwdriver, but be careful because those screws (the poles inside of the holes) break very easily. If it is tight, do not force it.

In addition to adjusting the poles, two good magnets will definitely be a huge improvement to the tone. Try contacting Jason Lollar, from what I understand he makes replacement magnets (though I can't find any info about it on his website).

Jason must have a source for these since they are used in his copy of the Supro string through pickup.

Does Rick Aiello still make his NIBros replacement magnets?

Maybe a pair of new ones would really bring out personality of that guitar.

Wow, I was about to make a pretty much identical post to Stuart's. My Supro is even red - Thanks, Forum! I found that as I nudged the pickup and housing structure around, the balance would change, but I couldn't get them all even. I assumed that there was a more serious problem than a pole adjustment could fix. I'll find my tiny flat-head. Mine too has 1 magnet and 1 piece of wood, painted shiny.

If you decide to remove the magnets for whatever reason, make sure they go back exactly where they came from. I slipped up on my SUPRO and replaced the magnets helter-skelter...the critter went dead on me. It's ok now. Embarassed
