Never replaced any SS-II's on a MSA Vintage XL. Anybody out there done it before. What's the easy way? What was the ohms on these pu's when new? Thanks. |

Billy, it is simple to change these pickups. Remove the 4 mounting screws, take the pickup out, remove the plate from the bottom of your old pickup, attach it to your new pickup and re-install. I don't know the ohms of the Super Sustain II pickups. _________________ EMCI Double 10,Session 400,Webb 614E and Gretsch Nashville Pro Steel Amp, Keith Hilton Digital Sustain pedal and Seymour Duncan KTG -1, Hughes&Kettner BATT

They were wound in the 22K ohm range and I've found them to be a bit to the muddy side for my taste. |

David H....not all SuperSustain 2 pickups were wound to the same OHMS. The ones we made for E9th had a LOT of highs. |

Reece,
Thanks for clearing that up. Of the many MSA's I've had over the years two came with the original SS II pickups. The one that came on my current S-10 did not suit my taste as I wasn't able to EQ the desired tone. I currently have an Emmons SC on it and it sounds great!
But I had forgotten that I had a D-10 several years ago that had SS II pickups on both necks and they sounded great! They looked different than the one that came on my current guitar. I never did check the reading on those but had no reason since I was happy with the tone.
Best regrads,
