What better project for a snowy day than installing my newly machined knee levers? Thanks to Jim & Dave, for pointing me in the right direction. Here's the story;
After consulting with my machinist buddy Ray, I bought four 1' pieces of 3/4" Aluminum bar, and he found some Aluminum channel lying around. First, he cut the knee levers, rounded the ends and knurled the bottom 6", and cut 1/2" threads on the top ends. Then he tapped threads in the cross bars for the levers to screw into. If I want, I can unscrew the levers when I pack the instrument, but they also fold down neatly.
Then he tapped a 10-24 threaded hole in the cross bars for the eye hooks which pull the turnbuckles as the cross bars turn. Another $5 at The Home Cheapo and I got the eye hooks and ferrules (I didn't feel like soldering cable loops, as is the norm).
I slapped it all together today, and it functions perfectly! I've got LKL to raise my "E"s (straight pull to the changer), and RKR to lower them (cable loops through the pulley). Other than that, I've got standard A, B and C pedals and another to drop the 2nd string to "D".
