This is an exciting experiment the Heartland Steel Guitar Association guys have come up with and has already received a lot of interest locally. Our goal, as stated in our by-laws, is to promote steel guitar music and we think this Swap-A-Lick idea will be a big help.
The response to our first two jams has been awesome so, anyone planning on attending our Swap-A-Lick sessions may want to contact us thru the Forum or at our website www.HeartlandSCA.org and let us know you plan to attend. |

I like that idea...usually at jams interest...seems to wane after the lunch break...maybe this would be a chance to find a little bit about how the guys with all the licks do it. _________________ DESERT ROSE D-10 8/5...Joe Naylor "SteelSeat"...

Hi Jack.... You are so right about about not being able to hold people's attention during the break at a jam session. We tried doing that at our first jam with some great info from one of our best players but, within 5 minutes, everyone except one player had gone to partake of all the food we had.
Our guys are always willing to show someone a lick but it is hard to do because we really try to keep our jams rolling so everyone gets maximum playing time. If everything goes right (yeah, I know, good luck on that)we plan to video the licks and put some of the best ones on our website at www.HeartlandSGA.org
If our idea works, maybe other associations will follow suite. |
