I wanted a full 24 1/2" scale length, 10 string in the smallest package I could make. Overall length - 26 1/4". I only have hand tools so all was cut by hand. 2"X6" aluminum square tube, so the head goes in and under the nut, 1/4" oak base and 1/4" oak laminated for neck. My own design for the keyless head, the stringing and tuning is much easier and quicker than I could have imagined, much to my surprise. This is the second ten string I have built using tonealigner pup, the tone of this one is beyond what I could hope for. It could be that having "no" extra string length at a long tuner head doesn't give me any bad harmonics or noise? Sometimes it just all comes together to make it sound fine. Having the pup, wiring with volume, tuner and jack as a module is nice as they all can come out without taking off the strings. The pup is height adjustable from the top as well as being able to fine tune each pole for each string. Thanks for looking - Cheers - Ray

Sweet. Are you going to make legs for it, or stick with the keyboard stand?

Pretty impressive, Raymond, that's similar to what I've been dreaming about for years. I'm not a fan of 'plank' style steels, but your's looks more inviting, maybe it's the wood work. And that it sounds great to your ears is the payoff, congrats! Could you post more pics, of the nut end?

one shot of nut end and one of the back side. Strings are easy to install from the end and tune from the back side. Sounds awkward, but, I have not found it that way. You can see how little movement it takes to be in tune. Thanks for the kind words - all.

I like the flat back. If I built the threaded ends inside I would consider legs. As for now I am happy with the shortened down top keyboard stand.

Very, very nice, RJ! Being a Kline owner, I love keyless guitars.

"It could be that having "no" extra string length at a long tuner head doesn't give me any bad harmonics or noise?"

I'm also in agreement with you on this issue. Hook up a tuner to a keyed guitar, and plunk those strings above the nut. They ain't harmonics that you wanna encourage.
