More days than not that's my favorite steel break of all time. Not flashy, no big technical tricks, but it turns a sort of a tongue-in-cheek fake country sound into a real country song.

Sounds like a quote of "Send Me the Pillow that You Dream On" right at the start, doesn't it?

And one of the bits of magic in there is that top harmony vocal line. I've been assuming that it's the bass player, Larry Marrs. Whoever it was put as much into the song as Marty or Travis did.

(Is he related to Sho-Bud wizard Duane Marrs?)

Yes, that's the great Larry Marrs. He did the high harmonies on a lot of Marty's 90's hits. Superb high harmony singer. Yes, he is the son of Duane Marrs and owns his own studio in Nashville. He is also a very talented producer. I own his rhinestone jackets from his days with Marty Stuart and have used them on some of the bigger gigs I had. As far as singing and country bass playing Larry is as good as it gets in my book. He is on many hits like David Ball's "Thinking Problem".

I have never seen this video before and I REALLY enjoyed it!

It was a joy to see Papa John smiling towards the end of the video.

Great video. Thanks. I never realized it was John on the record. I get to play this song every now and then (not enough to tell you the truth).

It looks as though John is playing a LeGrande model of Emmons, judging from the looks of the right end plate. I didn't know he ever played an all-pull Emmons. Sounds the same as the push/pull days. Boy I miss him Sad
