Myself and another South African friend will be visiting USA during March from Thu 10th for approximately 3 weeks.
Our interest is primarily to hear some good Country Music, and in particularly good Steel Guitar Playing (both Country and Jazz), and Guitar Playing.
I would be delighted if any fellow Forumites could suggest/recommend what venues we might visit during our time in the USA: particularly if there are any special “must not miss” events that coincide with our itinerary.

We will be at the Dallas Jamboree (Sheraton Hotel) from 10th to 13th.
Austin, Tx from 13th to 16/17th
Memphis, Tn from 18th to 20th
Nashville, Tn from 21st to 27th

Apart from Dallas, these dates can be pushed around by a day if we need to include something special.

Many thanks for your input.

You need to go to the Station Inn on Monday night in Nashville, to hear the Time Jumpers.

Be there early,

Marvin

SXSW is happening in Austin then. If you don't have a hotel room yet you should get on it now.

While in Nashville there will be a lot to see and hear, but on a Saturday afternoon, go to "the wheel" on broadway from 2-6.

Every saturday from 2-6 has Jay Andrews on pedal steel, and Jeff Garris on lead guitar.

I promise that you will walk away speechless.

Hello Earnest,
To answer your question - I did not play at the Convention.
I did not have my Steel with me, and without having my own set-up available, it makes it impossible.
My only real outlet is to put a tune on Youtube from time to time.
Thanks for asking.
Regards,
Sez
