Buddy Emmons on Prairie Home Companion this weekend. PHC has an online station finder if you need it. [This message was edited by Buck Dilly on 18 March 2006 at 02:10 PM.] |

The Waltz You Saved for Me, was sweet. Anyone in the East Tenn area can catch it Sunday at 1:00 (I think) on WETS 89.5 .
Allison Krause also but, without Douglas.

I heard it here in Mass. while driving to my gig in Connecticut. Sounded great, and it was very inspirational to hear Buddy's playing while on my way to play a steel gig! I think many of the NPR stations around the country replay the show today (Sunday). The show may also be heard on line at http://prairiehome.publicradio.org during the week following the show, I believe.
I enjoyed Buddy's "on air" chat with Garrison Keillor about Bud Isaacs and the birth of the pedal steel guitar. Buddy said we "We owe it all to him", and Keillor concluded with "We owe a Lot to You, Buddy Emmons", which drew a huge response from the audience. Amen... it doesn't get much better than that. |

I believe it's a re-broadcast of the show from May 1, 2004. (I guess they said it was May Day in the intro of the show...)

Ernie--you are correct. Buddy's talking intro for "Waltz" was a very nice tribute to Bud Isaacs and, it definitely seemed to me, his rendition of this beautiful tune also was full of stylistic tribute to Bud. Buddy also sat in the house band and played thoughout most of the show. Very very cool. |
