| Well our own Paul Martin (par excellence bass player for Marty Stuart Band) showed his stuff on a Sho-Bud Pro-I classic single neck. He and Gary Carter both played "Buds Bounce" on The Marty Stuart show tonight. Marty highlighted them both on pedal steel. Way to go Paul! You do us proud. God bless Marty Stuart. |

| We saw the Marty Stuart show in the local casino last year and I had a chance to talk to them all. When Paul found I played steel he said he"toys around with an old Sho Bud) I just loved the two Steels on the show tonight! Terry |

The Marty Stuart Show is the finest entertainment on TV (or anywhere)
for that matter.....Paul is a great ambassador for
country music and steel guitar. Oh, those OTHER guys
ain't bad either.

| Thanks everybody!!!! I truly love playing steel, although it's pretty overwhelming playing it on a TV show. I think Marty likes to see me sweat!!! HA!!! I had never heard the original "Bud's Bounce", let alone even attempted to play it. That was really a lot of fun, and I am glad you all liked it. We can't let this instrument die, and I know Marty is doing everything he can to keep it alive. We were all talking the other day (watching a playback in the studio) while Gary was getting some good camera time about how many TV shows you see right now where there was even a steel guitar on the show (I am thinking Midwest Country is the only other one) and you actually saw the player's face while he was playing. That's Marty's call, so as long as we do this show, steel will get lots of camera time. |

Paul; I watch the marty stuart Show each week, just to hear Gary play his " ZUM " Steel Guitar;when Marty lets us hear him; I take a Wee-Wee Break and you two play one of my favorite tunes on your steels; sorry I missed it.. Taking these other folks word that you were great..Congratulations.. I do wish Marty would allow Gary to turn up his Amp on occasion. We always hear Kenny and Marty doing their thing on lead guitars; I do enjoy hearing Gary on one of Connie's numbers..Thanks for sharing your talent with we Forumites..Cheers..Bernie

I remember playing a show with you in Frankfort long ago at the Civic Center. You were with Greg Austin I think. Martha Layne Collins was just elected govenor. I also did some recording at your dad's studio with Lyn Doolyn, Matt Presby played guitar. For those that don't know Paul can play about any instrument made. |

Actually, Malcolm, there'll be a steel at the Glasgow gig: Owen's playing steel, since I'm playing lead.
So there'd be a chance to play steel, if you like, Paul...and it would be cool to hear you do so.
By the by, I'm really looking forward to seeing the Superlatives - great band, and I'd actually bought a ticket before I was asked to play in the opening band! Very happy that the band is playing an electric set in Scotland. |

Hey Winston, I do remember that gig. I was playing with a dear friend who was the sheriff of my home town, and we were opening for the Kendalls. The reason of my memory, was I met Brian Franklin that day and we have been great friends to this day. I was embarrassed to be playing steel when I found out who his brother was, but that was a very fun day. Brian is a great guitar player in his on right, currently working with Kenny Rogers. I sure miss the days I got to spend at my Dad's studio. I'm glad you got to work there too. If I remember, Lynn did most of his recording after my mom had passed, and I was on the road with Exile. So you didn't get the whole enchilada (so to speak). Most folks fondly remember recording out in the studio, but they always talk about going into the house to grab a cup of coffee and eat some kind of homemade desert my mom had made. Thanks for jogging my memory about that show in Frankfort, and I am thinking that was around 1984 HA!!!
We tape the final 2 shows for season 3 tomorrow. i am supposed to be learning Keith Urban songs, but thought I'd stop in here and see what was going on. We are looking forward to the shows across the pond!! |

Paul : Thanks for sharing your input about working with Marty; What are the chances of you getting a re-run of the show you played the Sho-Bud on , one of those U-Tube clips, which I have been seeing lately. On May 31/2015, DaWife and I attended an Oak Ridge Boys & their 6-member backup band concert in the Northwestern Ontario City of Thunder Bay (home to Paul Shaffer). The entire nights peformance by the 4 Boys was OUTSTANDING! They gave the audience a non-interrupted 90 minute supercalifragilisticexpialidocious production.
I should mention that they have not lost a step or a note even though they are now well into their 60s and 70s. They sound as good now as they did in their heyday of 1973, when this current vocal group of Boys initially came together.
At one point in the evening, while three quarters of the way through their classic song Little Things, the band's Steel Guitar player Paul Martin astounded not only our City's audience, but also the Boys themselves, with a riveting showstopping piece. So much so that Tenor Joe Bonsall described it to us as, "the longest steel slide in the history of steel slides". It was an awesome steel slide segment and garnered a tremendous ovation.
Like the saying goes...you had to be there...to hear Martin's segment to believe it. It was simply out of this world, mind-blowing! I wanted to let the Steel Guitar world know of Martin's performance & Bonsall's response, before everyone's unwritten memory of it gets lost to history leaving no one to ever know it had happened.
