I'm toying around with a version of D13 on a 6 string:

Lo-to-hi: B-D-F#-A-C-E

Give me a straight Bm on strings 4-5-6; Am on strings
1-2-3; D major on 3-4-5; D6 on 3-4-5-6; D7 on 2-3-4-5;
D9 on 1-2-3-4-5; D13 on 1-2-3-4-5-6; Am6 on 1-2-3-4; Bm7 on 3-4-5-6.

How do you figure out which configuration of notes on what strings is best for a particular tuning? Do you look first at how the chords lay out? Or, do you search first for how a favorite scale tends to lay out?
Thanks
