Thursday March 16th: O'Brian's BBQ at 387 E. Gude Dr. in Rockville MD. from 7:30-10:30pm. I actually get to play with a Western Swing band!! Woo-hoo!!!!! While I don't mind too much the top 40 country gig I usually do, I'm sure this is gonna be a ball!! From what I understand, it's mostly guys from the Oklahoma Twisters and a couple of fill in players for those who couldn't do the gig. Guess I better fire up the ol C6th neck and try to get my chops back there in shape for thursday. If you're in the area and bored, stop on by!!! (edited to correct the address)

Chris,

The Oklahoma Twisters are a super Western Swing band and I love to play them on my "Swingin' West" radio show. Please do send George Welling and Leon Kasdorff my regards! Have a great gig!

Mike, be more than happy to (of course, I won't be able to in Mr. Kasdorff's case, he can't be there, hence, the reason I'll be there!!).

Chris,

I realized that and you will be filling big shoes (boots)! Please remember me to George and yes, Leon when you do run into him.

Once in a blue moon I get called to play one of those WS type of gigs and I too relish it. But then we have Bobby Black in our neighborhood and he is Mr. Western Swing with his new 12 string Super Slide

I've been waiting for something within driving distance and this is in my front yard (practically). Unfortunately, I'm tied up this evening and don't know if I'll get free in time. Have a great time. Darn.

Steve, if you're free tomorrow night, come out to Phil's Bar and Grill in Beltsville. 10624 Baltimore Av. (Rt.1) from 9-1, no cover. Yours truly and fellow forumite Brint Hannay will be leading a band doing a bunch of classic country. (edited to correct nasty spelling error)

Thanks for the info. I'm located in Rockville and will try to get by this evening. The pedal steel is new to this 6-string player, but my heart's in the right place. I just can't convince my fingers and feet . . . .

I heard that Chris!! The Reverand Mr. Black is the go to guy around these parts. He does it all. E9th, C6th, Hawaiian, dobro, Alt rock, lounge lizard, western swing, pedals, non pedal you name it. Super nice guy to know. he's got a zillion stories.

Chris,

Great to hear the good word from George! I sure wish that I had more than just two wonderful cuts to play by them on "Swingin' West." They are quite a tight bunch.
