Two things:
1. Make sure you have assigned the channel to the stereo output buss.
2. Check that you are really monitoring that channel. Recollection is there is a speaker icon.
The user manual is a large pdf file and very thorough. I think there is also a "quick start" guide that get's you up and running.

Right-click on the speaker icon in the bottom right hand corner of your screen.
Left-click on 'recording device'
When the box pops up, right-click in a blank area, and click 'show disabled devices'
It's quite possible that the line in has been disabled.
As an aside, I'm ditching Windows 7, and going back to XP.
Microsoft have made recording with 7 very difficult, with latency problems, a difficult to navigate sound system, too many parameters when you do finally find the page that you want etc |

Another thing to consider is that Sound Blaster is a gaming card, you may experience latency. If you do you may want to consider an audio interface for recording. Sound Blaster cards are very good but they may not be able to handle the latency issues as say a defined MAudio card/Interface designed for DAW's.
Good luck

I haven't used Cubase LE4 in awhile, but I remember you have to make a sound change to record, and then switch back to 'hear'. It has to do with Lambda and VSQ settings, I think.
It's a pain. You can't record something and then quickly listen back, first, without making those changes.
Rather screwy, IMHO _________________ Chip
