There was a jazz club in Urbana, Illinois I used to play at in the mid 1980s (on six string) called Nature`s Table. Around 1987 or 1989 I saw a pedal steel player leading a group -- I think it was just a trio, but maybe there was another instrument -- he played monster bebop lines at pretty furious tempos and as I recall had a ponytail (could be wrong about the ponytail but the monster lines part is accurate). After all these years I`m curious as to who it might have been so any info would be welcome. |

i know nothing of the specifics but would bet a lot of money that it was Dave Easley. |

Thanks, Dan, you may well be right so I will not bet a lot of money. I checked out some of his youtubes and although I'm going on almost 25 year old memories and his playing has doubtless changed some over the same almost 25 years, it sounds like it might be him. He's quite the player. |

To respond to everybody.....
I think it was Dave because he grew up in the Urbana area. I think the chances of having more than one ponytailed jazz monster in that town is too great. |
