I have a GFI student model (3&4), which has what appears to be a pull release system. Overall I am pretty happy with it, very good construction compared to other student models I have played. But similar to other student models, the pedals have a "weak" feeling action when you press them. On a nice pro model you feel a good connection when you press down, giving you more fine control. Does anyone know a way to improve this on my guitar? Weighing the pedals or something? I think someone once talked about putting springs on the pedals giving it a kind of virtual tension? Any ideas?

Hi James,
I'm curious about what you mean by "weak feeling action"....do you mean it takes very little pressure on the pedals to get the changes.....or perhaps that the stop feels vague or less than solid?
How 'bout the knee levers?
thanks |

The pedals push down too easy, it only takes a tiny bit of pressure. The levers are fine. |

Learn to love the action. It is far better than a stiff action. _________________ Carter D10 8p/8k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup,Regal RD40 Dobro, Recording King Professional Dobro, NV400, NV112,Ibanez Gio guitar, Epiphone SG Special (open D slide guitar) . Playing for 54 years and still counting. |

I can see where James is coming from. I like to rest my feet on pedals 1&2 or 6&7.
Being a p/p player for years, the pedal action on both my Zums were too easy for my taste. I kept partially depressing pedals that I hadn't intended engage. It sounded crappy and my ankle muscles would tire from having to keep my foot tilted up (dorsiflexed).
The solution was to loosen the raise "helper" springs, which stiffened the action nicely. |

Yeah, I know what you mean. I noticed my A+F combination sounded sour, and I realized that a slight piece of my shoe was barely grazing the B pedal, but thats all it takes to engage it. |
