I fell in love with this tune when I first heard Chet do it on his "Teensville" Album back in the
early 60's.

Afteer learning it on my Country Gent I arranged
some licks and a steel break (Gibson Consolette)

To hear how it all sounds here is the link:

Hope this all works I am on a new computer and
not used to Windows 7.

Happy New Year!!

Roy

nice roy!! you have a good touch with the atkins style. nice sound...like his gibson era tone--nice bright "dingy" clean gibson middle pickup selector sound!!

i have two of those gibson gents. both 1st year 1987 models.

i still have my letters from atkins. wrote him when i was a teenager and he actually sent me a letter back and an autographed pic, which sits right in front of me here at my computer desk. been listening to him for at least 50 years. what i learned from his playing, i use every time i do a gig. just today i am working on a new broadway show that i start in a few days. new production with all new music. there is a fingerstyle acoustic guitar part in a couple of the numbers. my atkins influence will get me through it!!

Happy New Year Charles and Bill ..thanks for the
encouraging words.

My Gent is out for repairs right now but when I get
it back I have some ideas for duets featuring it
and Lap steel/pedal steel.

All the best.

Roy

Roy will be looking for that. Love that finger picking. I had a Country Gentleman long ago [Mine was the Gretsch model]A funny little ditty,When I was about 9 years old and got my first little Stella guitar. Chet was just getting hot on the scene and was my hero. I knew without a doubt if I could ever get me one of those Gretsch guitars I could play like Chet. WRONG Exclamation But nothing wrong with a kid dreaming. YOU BETCHA,DYK?BC.

Erv,

I don't know if this is the same course that your advertisement was promoting, but there's one for sale on eBay right now. The price has gone up from the original $2.98, though.

Here's the eBay link:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Vintage-Chet-Atkins-Guitar-Method-Instruction-Book-/200562129933?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2eb26f3c0d

It might be the same course -- they both say that they teach "in diagrams and notes." Get it and you can "make other guitar players drool." Right now I can make them cringe!
