Good stuff! Gretchen's take on "Good Morning Heartache" is unreal---although some Dobro would be nice in there, too.
Thanks, Gaylon. |

Great stuff, Gaylon. It's cool to hear those tunes done unplugged. You sounded great.
I grabbed this screen shot from that link:
For those that missed it, Bruce B. has some similar great performances with Reba on that site.
Thanks for the post. |

Gaylon,
What's the "27"? I noticed it's on Gretchen's guitar too. What's the significance? 27 gold records? 27 takes for her first hit? Please enlighten me on this. Thanks- Michael |

Thanks guys. Michael...27 is her lucky number. She started noticing that the number was showing up everywhere. It has sort of evolved into her logo. Larry...he was a master. Those are just a few of the instruments that he built. Thanks.

That's wonderful, though I feel a bit despondent that someone who is so much at home with such a sophisticated song as "Good Morning Heartache" is painting herself into a career corner with all that redneck woman/ politically incorrect image thing that her management seem to be loading onto her.

Cheers!

She can sing about any song in any style out there. She is very versitile. However, she really is a politically UNcorrect redneck. Management had nothing to do with it.

Gaylon,
Last Saturday night I sat in a couple of sets with your buds at the 515 Club. Rick is a great singer and Marty plays the c%#p out of the Tele. I was invited by Dale the drummer.
I had a lot of fun and the guys talked about you being there a few weeks ago and what a great player you are. I wish I could have been there the evening you were playing. That would have been a great treat.
Travel safe. |

Gretchen is indeed a versitle artist, and the real deal.
I saw her do a very traditional cover of "Stand By Your Man" followed bt Heart's "Barracuda" in the same set with all her hits and the acoustic "Good Morning Heartache".
All excellent performances with a very tight band.
Don't judge an artist only by what you see on TV and hear on Radio. |
