I am going to attempt to change a pot out. My first question is: How is the best way to get into a Goodrich pedal?

Take the bottom four screws off. They are part of the feet.

make some drawings of the string winding, both, with the pedal off and on. There are winding instructions on a couple of web sites. You should down load and print these before you start.

Just last week, I had the same scenario. I called my friend Gary Carpenter (Rains steels) in Ft. Worth, and the single best piece of advice he gave me was..."take a picture of it before you remove it"...The light came on for me (duh). That way you can refer to the string alignment, etc.

just like they said..take a pic..i refer to scotty's music site under misc. items.. they post restring for goodrich and fender pedals.. h

Cord route begins at the inside of the volume pedals top.
It goes once around the Allen-Head screw on the spindle.
It continues one and a half times around the spindle.
It then goes over the tang. Then it is secured by the tang screw

I USE A FINE TIP SHARPY MARKER TO MARK WHERE THE OLD POT WAS...AROUND THE WASHER.. TO GET THE HEIGHT.
DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN THE NEW POT. YOU CAN MAKE THE POT BIND A LITTLE IF YOU OVERTIGHTEN IT. I DID THIS ON A VINTAGE GOODRICH WITH TONE TAPER AND BUILT IN FUZZ. HAD TO REPOT IT... OOOPS...
