I just clicked on a U-tube post that Micky Adams had concerning I never Go Around Mirrors. All I get is a U-Tube connection with a big solid black rectangle about 3 x 5 inches. Right above it, there was a Subscribe box, so I clicked that but nothing ever happened. Do you have to subscribe to U-Tube? Is there a charge, etc. I get e-mails all the time from friends with U-tube stuff, but I have never been able to figure out how to get it to play. If it makes a difference, my computer is an Imac OSX 10.4.11. |

That button is to add that channel to your YouTube account, if you have one. Try a different browser, and also do what Brad said. _________________ C#

Steve Jobs and Apple Computing are dead set against Adobe Flash in any of their products. I recall that an update earlier this fall may have actually removed support for Flash where it previously existed, in Mac computers. It is an established fact that iPads do NOT support Flash. _________________ "Wiz" Feinberg, Moderator SGF Computers Forum

|
|
Thanks, guys. I clicked on the Flash Player link as Brad suggested. I got the home page fine. It said: Step #1 Select and Operating System Step #2 Select a version Step # 3 Download. Sounds simple enough. Only problem is when I clicked on Step # 1 or # 2, all that happens is the same message appears right underneath, except it is highlighted in blue. Clicked on that, but nothing happens. So no U-tube yet.
I have Safari vs. 3 and just got a new printer for Christmas and just hooked it up. It uses Safari vs. 3, and the printer is working. I am afraid to mess with Safari in fear of my printer not working with a different version.
Merry Christmas, and thanks for your efforts. |

Apple's attitude is that Flash is old, buggy, inefficient, insecure and a resource hog, and they're supporting HTML5 for video playback rather than Flash, which is why Flash support isn't included in their recent iOS devices. But Adobe has a new version of Flash, now in beta, coming out, so we'll see what happens.
Meanwhile, you can go here to troubleshoot your Flash issues. _________________ C#

I download Firefox and upgraded to Flash Player 10 as you guys suggested. The U-tube began downloading and I got old smilin Mickey Adams's face instead of just a black box. So I thought the problem was solved.
Wrong!, but I did get close, but no cigar. It takes several hours for it to download because I am not on high speed service. It eventually stops downloading and I get the following message: "Warning: Unresponive Script. A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now or you can continue to see if the script will complete." There are two buttons to push, STOP SCRIPT and CONTINUE. I have tried them both. I have tried CONTINUE several times and all it does is take to a black box that says "Just Watched" and "Up next." Under just watched, the choices are replay, like, and share. Under up next is Big City Turnaround. There are also other choices at the bottom, such as Gene Watson intro, Got no Reason for going hom, John Schnieder awaits for final bid on General Lee, etc.
I don't understand any of this scripting message. Maybe you just can't watch U-tube without high speed access. As you can tell, I am a novice when it comes to computers and the lanquage.
Thanks so much for you guys trying to help. I really appreciated it. |

George;
If you are on dial-up Internet, YouTube may become non-responsive, depending on how slow your connection is. Still, it is possible to optimize a computer for a particular modem and particular phone wires, for the best sustainable throughput. If your modem is connecting at too high of a rate and the phone lines have a lot of signal bounce and noise, the data keeps resending and slows down your experience. Your goal would be to trim down the connection rate to a point where there are no more requests to resend blocks of data. Resent blocks errors are known as Blers, in Modem-Speak.
My knowledge for correcting this is limited to Windows PCs and modems. Perhaps somebody with a Mac and dial-up modem can help you reconfigure your maximum connection speed (in kbps), the MaxMtu and the Receive Window size. At the very least, reduce your initial connection rate. Try 33.6k instead of 56k. This really works if you have bad phone lines and signal bounce. _________________ "Wiz" Feinberg, Moderator SGF Computers Forum

George, if you don't have FireFox, Google it,download it. If you don't want it as your browser UN-check it. When it is installed and you are on line with FIREFOX running click on TOOLS look for ADD ONS- click it. Look for "EASY YOUTUBE VIDEO DOWNLOADER" if it's not there, type it in the Search BOX and when it is up, download it. Run it. Then load YouTube with FireFox. When FireFox (with YouTube) is loaded and you will see that black box on your screen. On that page type SINGLPILOT in the search box. When Mickeys files load,click on the one you want>it will start to load. You will soon see a button that has DOWNLOAD on it, under the black box Click it and sit back. It will download to a File Named "DOWNLOADS" IN FIREFOX, Find your file and DOUBLE click on it, it will start to play. All this my sound complicated but when you have the programs in FireFox in your computer you just have to load FireFox, go to downloads,right double click on one of SINGPILOT THAT YOU DOWNLOADED and it will take you to all of Mickeys files on YouTube click on one, then on the "DOWNLOAD BUTTON" AND SIT BACK AGAIN. It takes me on a phone line about 2 hr to download a 10 to 15 min. file WISH I HAD DSL !!!! HOPE IT WORKS FOR YOU, Art M. |
