Greetings fellow steelers. Early last year, I began a company called Tube-Tone Amplifiers and have been making hand wired guitar amps modeled after the 60s Fender black face amps. Business is coming along fine. I now have amps in 9 countries and 17 US states, thanks to the internet.
Early this year, I came out with the "Supervibe" which is a head to be used with various speaker cabinets. There is a switch on the rear panel that selects between components of the Vibroverb and the Super Reverb. There's an impedance selector knob to select 2, 4, or 8 ohms to accommodate most any speaker configuration.
I recently built a combo with 1x15" for a customer in UK. Before shipping the amp, I tried it with my pedal steel and was amazed at the variety of the tones I was able to get from this rig. I settled on the tone that I liked the best with my Sierra and recorded a quick demo on pedal steel here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FEC1__HA9kg

The Supervibe in a combo version is more than the head version but if someone were interested in a combo version, some features can be eliminated to reduce the cost such as the multi-impedance selector, etc.

My goodness those amps look very nice! I bet they sound like a dream as well. Can a person order the combo 15 inch version without the speaker to save costs?

The combo pictured was ordered with no speaker sent to UK. I stuck in a Weber 15" California just to make the demo. Customer ordered it with a Mojo adapter ring that goes in a 15" hole to accept a 12" speaker so he can try both size speakers.

Great looking amps, RayBob. On a sadder note, I just heard that our old friend Mike Brown has passed away. I don't think this is a recent thing, just new to me. Good luck with your amps and Happy Holidays.

The Supervibe is 50 watts. Yes, I can build a "twin in a head" or more properly called "Dual-Showman Reverb". I began the business building clones of the Deluxe, Princeton, and higher powered versions of each. Each of the other models came from requests for those.
The "Supervibe" came about after many lengthy emails for a custom head for a customer in Latvia. Since it's inception, Supervibes are now in Croatia, Germany, UK, a few US states.
I recently worked up a quote for a Dual Showman head. It's cheaper than the Supervibe without the many extra mods.
Cost for a (basically exact) copy of 64-67 BF Twin Reverb head (Dual Showman Reverb) would be $1320 plus shipping. That is with 4 ohm output, includes all top quality components inside, JJ tubes, Heyboer transformers, two-button foot-switch.
To add some of the features I normally do:
$140 (4) bias pots for each tube - instead of one pot for all 4.
$100 gain switch and mid-boost pedal
$180 gain and mid-boost pedal (2 button pedal w/special plug & cord)
$180 multi-tap output transformer with impedance selection knob added
$80 half-power switch
$60 padded cover (by D2F covers)
Last I heard, he was going to send a deposit after the holidays. When he does and it's built, it will be added to my web site as new model.

I honestly don't understand why the BF Twin is rated at 85 watts. It is the same circuit used in the SF Dual Showman Reverb rated at 100 watts. Same transformers, tubes, etc. Something about where to draw the line with THD rating.
Another mod I could do is to wire it for other power tubes. With a mod in the wiring, it could be possible to run 6L6GC, 7581A, EL34, KT66, or 6550 power tubes, with just bias re-adjustment. Also, the individual bias adjusting pots for each tube I do on most of my amps.
I'm not sure without measuring but I believe running 7581A would give 100 watts, and 6550 would give possibly 120 watts. 7581A tubes are direct swap for 6L6GC. The other tubes mentioned need re-wiring to use.

After a little more research on this, I see the early SF Twin AA270 is using the same tubes, transformers, etc, as an AB763 Twin but different resistor values in the phase inverter section. Same for the Dual-Showman Reverb AA270. Both are rated at 100 watts. Yes, I could do that.

Just finished building a Twin head, AB763, for customer in France. I measured 97 watts output, not 80-85. Guess numbers are just in advertising.

| 15 Watts makes very little difference in headroom. I've owned several twins, both 100 and 85 watt versions. The blackface AB763 circuit is far superior, tonewise to any silverface amp. |
