That would be Mr. Buddy Emmons. Great song as well. My band plays it every year and it goes over very well. Merry Christmas _________________ Mullen Royal Precision D10 Red Lacquer Pearl inlay 8&8

Robert, Congratulations on being the first to reply with the right answer!
HOWEVER . . .
Anyone who doesn't recognize that MONSTER tone and incredibly perfect intonation should turn in their bar and picks and go to the end of the line!
Merry Christmas! _________________ Zum Steel, Little Walter Amp, Benado Steel Dream

Thanks Darrell. Didn't know it was a quiz. I agree with Bent. It's a great song. I have just about everything that Buddy played on. I say just about because I know there is something out there I don't have, but I'm working on it. Merry Christmas to your family from mine. May 2011 bring us all better gigs. _________________ Mullen Royal Precision D10 Red Lacquer Pearl inlay 8&8

Robert, Thanks, and Merry Christmas to you as well.
I posted this as kind of a teaser, knowing that we would all recognize Buddy on this cut. However, I had to call Clinton to make SURE because I didn't have the CD.
In My Opinion, the "Step-One" recordings of Clinton Gregory, (If It Weren't For Country Music..."etc) are among the best of Buddy Emmons' work. The label was very steel guitar friendly.
This "Christmas In Virginia" is just some of the best Classic "Emmons" work I have heard.
If The BIG E is reading this post, or if Clinton happens to see it, THANKS for a wonderful gift to all of us again this Christmas! _________________ Zum Steel, Little Walter Amp, Benado Steel Dream

Words well spoke Darrell. Step One had some really great tunes that came out of it. Ray Pennington and Clinton Gregory had Buddy all over their music. Bill this CD is worth every penny. I play it a lot. _________________ Mullen Royal Precision D10 Red Lacquer Pearl inlay 8&8

I cannot locate the Cd anywhere to buy it, just single songs but not the CD with all the songs?
I like If it weren't for Country Music, I like Christmas in Virginia. |

Buddy played on the whole album,if I remember right.
I have the CD and the tapey thing.
Finding them I usually do before X mas.
Havn't yet. That is one of my AllTIME songs to listen to.
When I put my ears straight up I listen to Only buddy. He does something to some of the chords that frankly,I can't do.The feeling in the way he plays, goes to the Bone.
If I have a need to listen to some of the best,Paul and Buddy have me.I just happen to have a lot their
material here.
The Cd with paul teaching speed picking, which use to be ,very hard, and the C6 lessons from buddy, which were so easy the way he taught it ,I hope will never be lost around the steel crowd.
Getting back to the Virginia song. After listen to Buddy on that song for many times over the norm,I heard his exact style.I can also identify
it very easy.
It's called feeling.
