On a non-slotted guitar head, are the final winds onto the tuning posts supposed to go towards the the bottom of the tuner post or the top (away from the guitar head), or does this really matter?

Wind the strings down toward the headstock to increase the break angle over the nut.

Thanks Robert, I would have thought that because of the nut height, winding towards the headstock would make it more difficult to fine tune the strings because of the sharper break angle. I have been winding my strings away from the headstock up until now but I'll try your suggestion today.
