Seem to remember seeing this info in an online manual or similar before but can't find my way back to it now. Can anybody tell me what the proper gauges are for a E9 tuned Carter S-10. This is the "pro" model not the "Starter."

Here are the gauges from a smart string set from Carter high to low:

.012-.015-.011-.014-.017-.022-.026W-.030W-.034W-.036W

This set came with my Pro SD-10

OK, so now I'm confused Confused. . . Al Brisco was nice enough to send me this link which lists the gauges as:

.012-.015-.011-.014-018-.022-.026W-.030W-.034W-.038W

What gives? Question

Don't worry. There's nothing to be confused about. The only string that can be a real problem is the 6th (G#) if it is changed to a wound string. A .036 versus a .038 is no big deal. The .018 on the 5th string is just fine too. I use a .012 on my 3rd string Smile Maybe Carter changed their factory setup?

What makes you ask this...there may be several good answers to be had.

Ah, ok. Bit of a newbie here. Rolling Eyes I was under the impression you need to maintain the gauges in order for the pedals and levers to tune properly unless you completely set it up again. Thanks for clarifying. Glad there's some wiggle room -- now I'll change 'em more often Very Happy
