Does anyone know? I remember reading that Jimmy Day played with Elvis, could it be him on the recording?

According to the session log Larry posted, it was Alvino Rey. Fred Tavares on uke, Scotty Moore and Hank Garland on guitar, Floyd Cramer on piano, Hal Blaine drums. Sheesh, what a bunch of ringers!

With steel players like Bernie Ka'ai and Freddy Tavares present on the session, you have to wonder who actually took the steel part on that song.
Is there anything recognizable in the steel playing on the recording that would necessarily include or eliminate Alvino or Bernie or Freddy?
Wasn't Bernie supposedly ID'ed as the steel player on some other Elvis recordings? |

I thought Bobbe played on something with Elvis.
I think Scooty moore was The first guitar player with Elvis.
He got drafted and ended up with me in Panama.I only met him once as he was with a much better band ,at the time.I remember Scotty because,I heard all the right notes to presleys songs,and the convertable top with all the holes in it,as it rains every day there,Twice.
Scotty was very good.,so is Bobbe Seymore,and so are most of you, reading this.

Yeah, half the people on this forum can't spell. No need to single out anyone. Missed keystrokes or inverted letters happen to all of us at one time or another. Some members don't realize that they can go back and edit their posts for spelling and/or other errors just like I did here.
Also, if you search the old forum, you will find several references to support Armon's statement.
I have a hard time translating Seymour's posts in the following threads, but it would seem he knows from where he speaks.

I wouldn't have said anything if not for Armon's post calling himself out. And that "wink" emoticon is smiling.
Speaking as a person whose first and last names are misspelled at least as often as they are spelled right, I thought a little help for Bobbe's name would not be amiss.
As I recall, Bobbe has said that "Bobbe" was not intended to be pronounced "Bobby", but "Bob". |

I answered by saying I heard Kayton Roberts say that it was Bobbe Seymour.He said he was there.I am not a typist and got criticized for some bad spelling.I simply wanted yo try to answer the man,s question. If you listen to the record I think it's only three notes |

I really never thought much about the recording before, except for that classic part, but when I heard it a few days ago I could hear a few chimes and notes played through the verses and it just made me curious.
