Just curious if anyone has ever used a Fm212r Fender 100 watt amp with pedal steel. I know it wasn't designed for steel but was wondering if you could get by with one. I'm more concerned about using it as a practice amp . Thanks for any input.

Tommy, I've never played steel through one, but a friend has one that he plays his Tele through. I think it sounds very good to my ears in his application.
I play bass in this group on Fridays. If I can remember I'll get my steeler buddy to run his Carter through it and see how it sounds.
I'm a Peavey fan, but I'll try and be impartial and give it an honest listen.

Gladly! Maybe in the meantime, someone who has tried it will chime in.

I've been playing out with a Frontman 212 for seversl years, and although it's not a steel guitar amp per se, it has been more than adequate for my needs. It's loud and clean, which are the most important factors in my opinion. I should mention, however, that I play thru a Digitech RP155 which greatly enhances my sound.
But for the money, it's hard to beat the Frontman. And it's also pretty lightweight- I think around 35 lbs.

Steve ,thanks for the information . You are on the money regarding the weight factor ,my health doesn't allow me to carry alot of weight anymore. I have been told that the clean channel was the best thing about the amp ,so that definitely works to my advantage. I'm wanting to play some guitar through it too. Thanks again!

Tommy, when weight is a factor give the ZT CLUB AMP a try. 22lbs only. I use it for PSG, lap steel and guitar. Works very good for my needs.

Tommy, I'm using the FM100H, which is the head version of the FM212, and I like it. Like Steve said, loud, and clean. I am playing through a 2-12 cabinet with EVM12S speakers.

I did change the small reverb tank to a "4" series Accutronics, which sounds a lot better.

Hey Bill, I believe I'm going to give it a try. I really like the old fender appearance of the amp. Thanks

Tommy, as I mentioned, I had my buddy play his Carter through the 212. I thought it sounded pretty decent for a 'non-steel' amp. Very clear sounding.
And certainly not to dispute anyone's word, but I picked it up and it sure seems like more than 35 lbs. to me. I have a NN112 which I think weighs in about 40 +-, and this felt heavier that it. JMO.
Good luck with whatever you decide on.
