A few years I traded off an old Oahu lapsteel that had an Automatic Tuner on the bridge that gave an E, A, and C# minor open tuning. I lost the instructions but just found them while housecleaning. I think Steve Hamill got the guitar from me and sold it so it's changed hands a few times. In case someone on here has the guitar, here are the instructions.
I can send a higher resolution jpg if needed. The original is a bit moldy...

I appreciate your posting this information. Does anyone have this info for an 8 string Multi-Harp Triplex, made by H. Hise? That would make my day - big time. Thanks in advance. Ray |

I think Hipshot makes a six string model, not sure of an 8 string.... _________________ Dave Zirbel-

Erv:
Amazing! I have a Hipshot bridge like that on a 6 string tele that I set up for slide guitar. But after looking at your picture I may put it on one of my lap steels since I usually keep the slide guitar tuned to open E. On a lap steel with a thicker stronger neck you should be able to get more than 3 tunings as is usually the case with a regular guitar. (A regular guitar neck will flex from the increased tension as you raise more strings, thus limiting the number of possible changes without having to use the tuning keys.)
Thanks for giving me an idea for my next project!

Steve,
If you notice, I even put on a roller nut I got from Hipshot.
I have it set up for 3 different tunings: A6th, C6th and C#m7 with an E for the high string on all 3.
Here's another one I did:

I'm sorry if I'm hijacking the thread.....
Way cool Erv, thanks!
Jay
PS Maybe you can start a new thread to talk about your guitar Erv.
Is that a homemade?
I have one I made that I'd show....

The first guitar is a creation of Loni Specter plus some of my modifications.
The 2nd guitar is a Stratocaster with a "Redneck" from Loni. |
