Hey Reece, if you're out there could you give me some info on my newly aquired MSA S-12. It has 5 pedals and 5 knee levers but has the parts for an additional 3 pedals. The serial number is 1C6068. It has a beautiful wood body which looks like it was originally green but the front apron is more of a brown tone. It also has two raises and lowers. I feel honored to have this guitar. I traded a S-12 keyless Marlen that I recently aquired straight across for this guitar and I think I might have gotten the best of the deal. It also has a Super Sustain pickup..is that the original?.....JH in Va.

Jerry....First of all may I welcome you to the MSA family, we're happy to have you.
Serial number 1C6068 shows to be an emerald green single 12 which left the factory with 8 pedals and 4 knee levers. It was originally shipped to a man named Jim Ford. The date of completion was not entered into record, I would however guess-ti-mate it as being a middle 1980's model.
Over the years, excessive exposure to sunlight causes the green to fade into an attractive brown. I have both an older model single 12 and an SS double 10, both were once emerald green and they are now a beautiful brown.
Please recheck the pulling system closely, because your guitar should have a triple raise and triple lower changer.
Yes, the Super Sustain pickup is the original pickup we were using at that point in time.

Thanks for the info Reece. I did check the changer and it is a double raise and lower and not a triple raise. It also says "Classic" on the front apron. I agree with you, the brown is a very nice finish but the top is still green.............JH in Va.

Jerry, your guitar is the twin sister of my Classic. (The one in my avatar.)
I case you don't already know, Tom Bradshaw invented a devise that converts a lower to a raise (and visa verse) so if you plan in installing the E9/B6 universal tuning, you can have the triple raises (with a single lower) on strings 5 and 6 that it requires.
My guitar is set up this way, and it works perfectly.

Hey Mike, thanks for the info but I won't need the part as I only raise my 5th string twice. I don't use the standard 3rd pedal and instead have an E to F# raise on pedal 8 which is operated by the right foot. I use the standard A & B pedals and the one which raises the 5th and 6th strings a whole tone each. In the pictures, I don't have the legs on it as I've had it on the work bench changing some of the bell cranks around. Do you (or anyone else) know where I might get some of those inserts that the pull rod(s) go through which are in the bell cranks. Looks like they've got an allen screw to tighten down on the rod..........JH in Va.

Jerry, the correct term for those is "little thingies". 
Seriously, you might try asking Jim Palenscar, Tom Bradshaw, or Linkon steel guitars in Canada.

Thanks Clyde, if you remember the time that Rick Mann came to the jam at Jerry D's place, this was the guitar he was playing that day. I really liked that Marlen but I just missed the extra pedals so I'll be able to set this one up exactly like my BMI (pictured).......JH in Va.
