I know this is off beat, but I thought I'd throw it out there in case anyone is into drums.. but I have aquired these drums, and from my dectective work they are a COMPLETE set of
 original Premier Drums vintage 1965, this is the set as it appears in the '65 catalogue, they are so minty they look like re-issues,all original including the heads, not a screw ever turned.. purchased from an estate, they look NEW!! maybe played a day or so...this is a set similar to Ringo's set so I'm told..anyway I'm asking $1500.00 plus shipping, interesting trades, and offers are OK too..e-mail lucybobkat@yahoo.com... call 570-829-7908... |

Here's what I found from one source:
"When Ringo was asked to join The Beatles, he still had the Premier kit. Many of the early recordings were made with this kit. Sometime between September 4, 1962, and February 17, 1963, Ringo’s name was replaced by a Beatles logo".
If we're talking about the kit that Ringo played on The Ed Sullivan Show, that was a Ludwig Black Oyster Pearl kit.

The early Premier drums were really nice...
Keith Moon used Premier, early on.
They've been around for quite a while...

My late brother bought his Premier kit (in Aquamarine Sparkle!) in 1960 - it was well-made, reasonably priced, and available; we couldn't get any American gear at that time, even if we'd been able to afford it!
By the early '60s when I was out touring Premier still reigned supreme, even though the more well-heeled groups had acquired Gretsch or Ludwig drum-kits. Premier were fine, though - they made as much noise as anything else out there...

NO....... That info is VERY Incorrect and Misleading. Check http://www.vintagedrumguide.com/
Bob is one of the good ones, He does his homework and always has some nice vintage pieces at very fair prices....

| It should be pointed out that the toms on Premier drums of this vintage (pre-1968) are metric size. The 16" floor tom is a slightly larger diameter, and the 12" mounted tom is slightly under size. These are known as "pre-international" sizes. Currently, Remo makes these sizes in a few types. Availability and price of these heads may a consideration to some. |

These are great drums !!!
I bought a set a year ago: same color (mahogany swirl) and sizes (20,16,12, piccolo snare) as the Ringo kit. Mid 60`s....
I have it my studio and drummers who own expensive hand made sets don`t mind using it and actually prefer it for many things.
Highly recommended!!!!!

A little trivia: there is a (weeeee) bit of truth in the post saying Rogers made Ringo`s set:
Ringo replaced the original Premier tom holder with a Rogers Swiv-O-Matic.
I think he did that with his subsequent Ludwigs, too.

That is the nicest set that I have ever seen, and the best color.
They look like they came stright out of a time capule! Some drummer will score bigtime.

Thanks Lefty, a lot of times a picture will make an item look better, well these drums look 10 times better in person, the picture doesn't do them justice!!! they are right out of a time machine!!!
Still Available... don't lose these drums someone's gona get a drum set fit for a museum!! they would be great a great addition to someone's recording studio... |
