1937 "Silver Ricky" Richenbacher Steel

This is beautiful 6 string Richenbacher (Silver Ricky) Electric Steel Guitar, 1937 and was made in Los Angeles, California. The serial number is D-809.

The steel is a very nice early Richenbacher "Silver Ricky" Steel Guitar. Headstock logo plate reads Richenbacher "Electro" Los Angeles. Overall length is at 30 inches, 9 1/4 inches wide, 1 3/4 inches thick. It has the one black original knob. The playing scale length is around 22 1/2 inches. It has the shiny cg\hrome keys and a real hot sounding pickup.

The shiny metal body nickel plated, this steel guitar is beautiful. It has a hollow chamber body that helps give it sort of reverby type sound with nice sustain. There is a little wear on the guitar but nothing serious and the sound and beauty are superb!

This is the only lap steel guitar that I have ever heard that even comes close to comparing with my custom pedal steel guitars. Really the tone is similar to my 14 string custom BMI (Beck Musical Instrument) steel, that the late Steel Guitar Hall of Famer Zane Beck custom built for me in 1984. I have used it on recording sessions and actually
recorded an entire Gospel CD of my own using it. Again the sound is excellent! Perfect for Jerry Byrd sounding steel and Hawaiian music. Of course you can play any type of music with it, Blues, Gospel, Country, etc.

I bought this steel the summer of 1985. I have decided to part with it, because our home is like a music store. We have 3 pedal steels, a vintage double 8 Alamo non-pedal steel, Dobro, two electric guitars, an upright electric bass, a 5 string electric bass, two electric keyboards, drums, a fiddle and a banjo. Well, my wife is ready for us to clean out our home music store.

This Silver Ricky Steel is Pre World War II. You can go to visit this sight and learn more about it.

They were made only from 1937 until 1943.

This is a 1937 model.

Also the case is in great shape except for tape on handle. It was so old the metal was wearing through the handle and I taped the case handle.
