Can anyone please recommend a light weight tube amp of around 30W for playing rock and blues? 
I used to haul a Mesa/Boogie MK III around that you could dial any tone into, but my back just cant take it no more.

Since that one appears to be sold out, I'd suggest the Fender '65 Deluxe Reverb reissue. It's widely available and one of the standard amps of the rock world.
If this is too much money for your budget, give us an idea of what your budget might be and we'll have better suggestions.

| Just saw a new Peavey Delta Blues amp at a music store tweed tolex with 2x10s. I have the one with the 15 a bit heavier, but still not bad. The 2x10 is real light. Mine is way heavier due to the heavy ass old jensen p15L with honkin magnet. The reg 15 it comes with is fairly heavy also. I think 45lbs. or so. It's a budget amp and all but I love it. Really comes through when I need it to. Kinda high new 600 or so. You can find them used in the 400 range. Upgrade tubes and they play real nice. Again, 2x10 is really light. Wish it had 2 inputs. I use a preamp mixer to get around this. Also, the EL84x4 actually sounds kinda fendery somehow, kinda like a cross between a vox and a fender. I love mine. |

| I worked on a Delta Blues amp for one of my son's friends. ( reverb problem) seemed like a nice amp to me, and my bakelite sounded good through it. Don't remember the weight. |

I owned a Fralin amp for a while. It was very dissapointing, not much head room and very noisy. I see that they have stopped using carbon comp resistors everywhere, now putting them only where they make a difference, maybe this will quiet it down a bit. It was ok for standard (archtop with p-90's-tele), but nothing to write home about. It looks like it would be the bomb but you never know until you can really put it through its paces. |

Actually, I desire to play lap steel through it and make it grunt at a reasonable volume. Maybe a loud 15 to 20W tube amp as I dont want to put anything at the front end of it.

Hey Kirk, I'd recommend the Peavey Classic 30 which has a 12" speaker and is pretty light yet puts out a lot of sound. They've been around for a good while now and you can find a used one pretty cheap if you look for it. I had one which I took to California last year for my grandson's birthday and I wish I'd have given him another amp as I really miss it.......JH in Va.

Or a HotRod Deluxe, but you might even go smaller with a Champ or Blues Jr. if you can mic it. I love Fender amps!

I really like that Egnater Tweaker combo. Seems like what I'm looking for but.............the price? geez.
