Hi all,

which would you consider the essential 10 albums that every pedalsteel guitarist should (have) listen(ed) to?
I'm saying ten, but maybe you can only think of 5, or even 15..., country, jazz, rock, gospel, blues...
I mean full instrumental albums, but also backing up singers...

Please let me know what you think...

Eddy

Eddy, take a look at this old thread -- you might get a few good suggestions HERE.

Most of the thread focuses on great steel players (in general), but some people posted specific albums they consider essential.

There are some great albums out there, but when you get to "essential" I think the two in everyone's collection are:

Buddy Emmons : Emmons Guitar Company (a.k.a the Black Album)
Lloyd Green: Charlie Pride "Live in Person" (a.k.a. the Panther Hall album)

The one other that I always find in my CD player is Buddy Emmons Live album recorded at the 77 ISGA show. I think you can still get that one from Scotty's in St. Louis. It may not rank as essential but is pretty impressive in my book.
