Everybody KNOWS that the best steel guitarist ever is Jerry Garcia.

Who is this Emmons guy, and if he's so great, why didn't CSNY use him instead?

Actually, I'm the only steel guitarist on my block. Still fightin hard not to lose my spot though! Gonna hang onto it even if I have to chase the others off with one of the legs from my steel.
Very Happy

The best steel guitarist that ever lived is Ephram Zoawister Nunkheimer IV. He's so damned good that he's never released his recordings or appeared in public. Winking

I don't want to muddy the waters, but it seems to me this poll would have to be segregated. Best Country steeler...Lloyd Green. Best Jazz..Doug Jerenigan...Best all-round..Buddy Emmons.
Just my opinion of course.
Oh..and best dobro..Shot Jackson.

Well theres 1352 guitar pickers in nashville, and anyone of them can play twice as better than I will. I feel sorry for Mr.Cox living so close to his competition on a daily basis. lakeshrk

When I was a boy we had a track and fields athletics contest and on my certificate it read that I was was the 123rd. winner (not exactly sure about the number).
I guess it's a much better result than I would achieve in a best steel players' list.
