Sometimes a tune does not get out of your head so I did have to do something about it so I recorded it. Neil Young's cross-over song, recently also featured in the movie "Eat, Pray, Love".
Played on West Coast Steelocaster A6 and MSA Classic XL pedal steel using the E9 neck, key of D. The backing consists of two custom backing tracks (bass, keyboard, percussion) layered with two rhythm guitar tracks ( Martin custom X), two keyboard tracks for a total of sixteen tracks. All layers by me.

Just got back, grateful for the appreciation from all you great steelers, your responses make me feel very humble....
A steel guitar lead for "Harvest Moon" had been suggested by an Australian member of a guitar forum about a year ago. Then recently saw the movie "Eat, Pray, Love" and this tune kept running in my head. I had a lot of fun trying to portray a dialogue between the steels and the other instruments and I hope this came through a bit. Not a difficult tune at all.
Here is the detail of this first mix:
Track 1/2: Bass, Rhythm/Leads, Harmonica ( backing track #1)
Track 3/4: Pedal Steel
Track 5/6: Lap Steel
Track 7: Acoustic Rhythm Guitar 1
Track 8: Acoustic Rhythm Guitar 2
Track 9/10: Male Voices (sampled)
Track 11/12: Female Voices ( sampled)
Track 13/14: (sub-mix)
Track 15/16: Percussion, Organ ( backing track #2)

Driving home from Los Angeles in the sunset this evening I saw what appeared to be a larger than usual moon. I wiki'd "Harvest Moon" to find the following...
" The harvest moon is the moon at or about the period of fullness that is nearest to the autumnal equinox around the 21st of September.
All full moons rise around the time of sunset. However, although in general the moon rises about 50 minutes later each day, as it moves in orbit around Earth, the Harvest Moon and Hunter's Moon are special, because around the time of these full moons, the time difference between moonrise on successive evenings is shorter than usual which means that the moon rises approximately 30 minutes later, from one night to the next, as seen from about 40 degrees N. or S. latitude, for several evenings around the full Hunter's or Harvest Moons. Thus there is no long period of darkness between sunset and moonrise around the time following these full moons. In times past this feature of these autumn moons was said to help farmers working to bring in their crops (or, in the case of the Hunter's Moon, hunters tracking their prey). They could continue being productive by moonlight even after the sun had set. Hence the name Harvest Moon...."

It’s an early Harvest Moon this year for the Northern Hemisphere. Look for the Harvest Moon to shine on the night of September 8-9, 2014. Folks in the Southern Hemisphere will need to wait six more months.

You haven't seen a real Harvest Moon until you've
seen it in the Midwest. Stop by sometime. Harvest
Days Festival in 2 weeks here in Dwight IL.
