Hey all,

Meant to post something earlier, but I played on the CBS Early Show on Oct. 23rd with a really good pop artist named Matt White. I am playing the part from the record pretty much note for note (except for the harmonics at the very end - my big idea). Playing my 1969 push pull through a rented DRRI. Sit throught the Microsoft ad and check the clip out, PSG on a major national show, look out! Playing on Rachel Ray on December 8th.

Best,

Gerald

Neat Gerald! Nice close-up of your hands. The harmonics were a nice added touch!

Gerald, that wasn't Philip Sterk on bass was it? He is a NYC steeler, and great drummer. Bass would not surprise me at all.

Cool, You sounded just fine, and this was great exposure for our instrument.

I think that as more and more singer/songwriters are realizing what a beautiful and expressive instrument the steel is, they going to have steel players in their bands. This style of music is the future of the steel guitar.

You guys are great! Thanks very much for checking out the clip. A couple of answers to some questions that were posed:

Bass player is NYC ringer Lee Nadel, incredibly soulful guy, the perfect bassist as far as I can tell.

Kurt man, where have you been? Last I saw you I was buying 1308 and you were buying a black D-12 from the man in Canandaigua you referred me to.

The electric guitar player is steel player Greg McMullen, who is a fine guitarist also.

It was a real treat to play on CBS, wow, a gig where they send a car to pick you up, take you home and there's a nice green room. Even though I never watch TV, I sure like playing on TV shows!!

Thanks again to all for checking out the clip.

Best,

Gerald Menke

Hello Gerald Menke,
Sweet! Nice stuff young fella!
I am wondering if the Forum ever learned of your playing on the "Dr. Bronner's Magic Soapbox" documentary.
Remember, I called you after I saw it because your playing was so interesting.
